Film your school show: School play, dance, musical, and concert filming.

I am available for filming your school dance shows, musicals, plays, and concerts throughout the school year. I produce engaging, high-quality video recordings of school performances that everyone involved will enjoy watching for years to come. I can film your school’s show anywhere in the Black Country or wider West Midlands region.

Finished films are available as Digital Download or DVD. Live streaming is also available*.

Take filming of your school show well beyond a single camera and built-in microphone.

Multi-camera capture.

When filming your school show, I use three cameras to capture the action, which I can then edit between in post-production. Alternatively, when the situation allows, I can use live production switching and robotic cameras. Either method lets me cut between shots of groups, soloists, or a whole stage. The result is a video that provides a truly engaging audience experience, just like live TV.

Top-quality sound for your school show video.

I can record audio directly from your house PA system, from microphones placed close to the stage, or both. This means I get crystal clear sound without the nasty room reverb captured by on-camera mics. If you can hear it on the front row, you’ll hear it on the video.

Digital download.

Finished movies are available to download in full HD, from a secure online account. This means that they are only available to invited subscribers. Once invited, subscribers can download the video as an MP4 file ready to play on their computer, tablet, phone, or smart TV.

DVD.

Although DVDs are lower in quality than a full HD download, many people still prefer a tangible product. I supply DVDs with an on-body print of key performance information, presented in a library case with full colour wrap. Schools can supply their own artwork to fit a downloadable template, or I can use stills from the video to create something suitable.

Live streaming your school show.

You may want to invite parents, grandparents, and others who can’t attend to view the film of your school show in real-time. I can stream your show, as it happens, as an unlisted YouTube or Facebook live stream. You may, of course, prefer the live stream to go out via a school Teams or Zoom account. If so, I can simply turn my streaming rig into a supercharged USB webcam ready to use with these services.

Why choose Mooma Media to film your school show?

I’ve recently retired from more than thirty years of teaching performing arts and media production. During that time, I produced, MDd, photographed and filmed more school shows, plays, and concerts than I care to remember. This experience means that I understand the demands, constraints, and quirks of running school performances much better than most.

I hold enhanced DBS clearance for everyone’s peace of mind.

How does it work?

Risk-free advanced sales.

My services to film your school show include a financially risk-free option. The school meets filming costs by the sale of DVDs at a per-unit price, based on your minimum order. You simply take advanced orders and payments within a provisional booking window. Once you reach an agreed minimum order, we can confirm filming. You can find out more information on pricing below.

Contracted service.

As an alternative to advanced sales, I can simply film your school show as a contracted service. You are then free to distribute the finished video to students and parents in whatever way and for whatever price you wish.

As well as filming, you can also have your school show live streamed in real-time. This is particularly suited to schools and shows where in-house audience numbers are restricted. Live internet streaming has become increasingly popular during lockdown. You can also add live streaming to my filming service for the best of both worlds.

Site visits and dress rehearsals.

Where possible, I will make a site visit prior to filming your school show. This allows me to assess layout, health and safety, and other practical considerations. This is not always possible for more distant venues; however, alternatives, including Zoom/Teams calls are often a good substitute.

If you’re holding a dress/tech rehearsal on the same day as the performance I’m happy to attend. This allows me to get set up early and familiarise myself with the show. It also allows me to plan and set up shots for the video in advance. If you’re holding your dress/tech rehearsal on a different day, a simple mobile phone video of this will usually suffice.

Guide to unit pricing for filming your school show.

Unit pricing depends largely on sales volume. I would normally expect sales of 1 or more units to approximately 50% of students involved in an event.

The following examples for DVDs give a good idea of per-unit costs for up to two hours of video recorded on a single-layer DVD. Digital downloads attract a £1.00 per unit discount.

  • 75+ = £10.00 each
  • 50+ = £14.00 each
  • 25+ = £24.00 each

Please note that while I can mix DVDs and downloads, mixed orders must include a minimum of 25 DVDs.

Prices for filming or live streaming, as single or combined contracted services, are dependent upon the length of the engagement. Prices start at £300 for filming shorter school concerts and plays, i.e. 1 hour in length.
